Dear Brothers of Iota Tau,

We hope this letter finds you and your family full of joy, in great health, and well on your way to a successful start for 2009. This April will mark the 19th anniversary of the Iota Tau Chapter of the Sigma Chi Fraternity at the University of St. Thomas. During that time, over 190 members have been initiated into the chapter. Iota Tau has built a solid reputation over those years by winning six Peterson Significant Chapter Awards and the prestigious Legion of Honor recognition. The legacy continues with the current active chapter who is working hard to win the seventh Peterson award while initiating eight new members this spring. The house at 2054 Laurel Avenue across from campus still serves as the chapter house and you would be surprised by how much has changed in the past years! The chapter remains the only active social fraternity on campus and the Spirit of Sigma Chi is alive and well with Iota Tau.

Despite several Twin Cities Alumni Groups, the formal efforts to establish an alumni group for Iota Tau have never been realized. As the "young" chapter grew into maturity, many connections were lost as brothers started their careers and families. Today, the active chapter has a difficult time finding the whereabouts of the past members to actively engage them in current news and events. We simply have lost touch of each other and the desire to find new opportunities to get together has been common request of alumni members. We are starting the process of trying to form an alumni organization that allows people to get together as brothers, couples, and families to rekindle old friendships, networks, and share the Spirit of Sigma Chi.

The first step in the process is reaching out to those brothers with active addresses to make sure we have the appropriate contacts and hope that you have some additional email addresses that can fill in the blanks. On-line networking sites such as facebook have helped with this process, but we are still missing some members. During this process, we have also found several members missing from the 'official' fraternity roster with Headquarters and we want to ensure that we have an accurate account of our membership history. Please take the time to fill out the reply at the end of this email so we can make sure we have accurate information. Our hope is to establish an alumni “club” that provides new ways to build upon the experiences of our pasts.

In addition to getting accurate contact information, we are looking at sponsoring some different events that will allow people living in the Twin Cities to get together. We are also looking at some ways where we can include those brothers who no longer live in the Twin Cities as well. More details will be coming in the next couple of weeks.

The strength of Iota Tau has always been the diversity and individuality of our brotherhood. Our chapter has always embraced the Spirit of Sigma Chi: "sharing a common belief in an ideal and possessing different temperaments, talents and convictions ... without surrendering the principle of individuality or sacrificing one's personal judgment." We would like to invite you to come back to Iota Tau and experience the Ritual, Brotherhood, Club aspects that have played a key role in so many of our lives.
